The Food Stamp Program is slated for a long overdue name change, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's 2007 farm bill. The original ''stamps'' were replaced decades ago by coupons, which in turn gave way to an electronic system in 2004. Monthly food stamp allotments are now debited with the swipe of a plastic card.
